Japan - Day 5
Today, Friday Oct 7th, we decided to try and take the Aunt and Uncle on a train ride. No itinerary or any goal to speak of, simply taking a trip and seeing whatever sights we could along the way.
First stop was Zushi Station where my cousin and her husband dropped them off from the car, I walked.
We rode the train to Yokohama Station where we stopped at Sogo (a shopping center just outside one of the station’s exits). Not much to see here.
We then rode the elevators up to the 3rd to the last floor (I think it was like 10 or 11 floors up) where there were some restaurants.
We ate at a Mexican restaurant. Although the food was clearly influenced by Mexican items (burritos, tacos, enchiladas, etc.) it felt like it’d been tailored for the Japanese, then again, it could just be they were serving better stuff than all the “local” Mexican places back home.
I picked up a sort of mix-of-everything dish (Taquitos, Taco, Rice and Beans, I think maybe an Enchilada, too, and a salad). It was extremely tasty.
While waiting for the elevator to go back down, I snapped some pictures of Yokohama out a window in the building.
After eating, we hopped on a ferry ride to a park to the south of the Yokohama Station area which was a couple of blocks away from Yokohama’s Chinatown.
After getting off the ferry there was a garden which we passed by, but did not go in:
Then it was on to Yokohama’s Chinatown.
While we were there, I visited the “Doctor Fish” place. It was $10 for 10 minutes (1000 yen).
It was definitely an interesting experience and one I’d recommend unless you’re super sensitive/ticklish on your feet.
My feet came out super smooth and although it wasn’t necessarily a foot massage, it was certainly relaxing.
At the end of Chinatown we hopped a train back to Oofuna and then transferred and hopped the next train back to Zushi. The Aunt and Uncle were pretty well worn out by then, and I was getting there after such a long trek of walking around.
